I have always thought of carefronting ( although this is the first time I have heard that terminology) as being productive to resolve conflict, so I was surprised to hear Dr Elmer say that it doesnt work well all the time. I would think that as the course indicated, the language terms usedin this direct type approach would need to be carefully selected, so as to not create defensiveness from the party being approached. I know that the word "you...." immediately cause the other person o begin to defend their position, and should be replaced if possible with "...I feel..." I know carefrontingh doesn't work well in the majority world, but in the US, if words are selected carefully, and the conversation is entered after some prayer, my experience is that it usually is effective. And certainly better than avoidance which is what I have seen very often, especially in church life.
