And there is disorder in the church when women’s appearance is inappropriate and is a distraction to worship and the gospel.This week Bruce Dick:

      examines  how Paul develops his ideas about the priority of prayer, the privilege of prayer and the posture in prayer;

      looks at  specific guidelines about the behavior of women and their roles in the church;

      explains how women can attract others to Christ.

    • Timothy  would have been a most unlikely candidate to lead а mega-church, meeting in homes all over the city.  But in this young man, Paul had seen a character and giftedness that he knew God could use to set things straight.  And to encourage him, Paul sends Timothy the first of two recorded letters, propping him up and encouraging him to keep on this path of restoring the church in Ephesus to health.  This week Bruce Dick:

      • looks at the desire for the position of leadership, the character qualities of leaders, their home life,  maturity and integrity in the community;
      • shares from his experience, how God put him in a leadership position and encourages men to serve beyond the average and ordinary ways to minister;
      • emphasizes that a healthy church uses men and women who serve from godly character.

    • The voices people in the church in Ephesus were listening to were so subtle; they couldn’t discern which path was really the right one any more. How could they become more Christlike, since that was their goal, and how could they find which voices to listen to?  They were at a fork in their spiritual “roads” and they needed some help. This week Bruce Dick:

      • invites you to examine Paul's instructions to Timothy and the church and learn how to become more Christlike by choosing the right path and listening to the voices of godliness;

      • explains the difference between the voices of deception and the voices of godliness;

    • After lots of instruction, Paul had singled out three groups of people in the church that Timothy was to show honor to. He also focuses his attention to the two problem elements in the church. Paul wants Timothy to treat everyone in the church like family. In God's household there is an appropriate way for the leaders to treat people - exactly as one does in one's own family with great deference and respect. This week Bruce Dick:

      • looks at some general guidelines and specific instructions concerning old and young widows, elders and believing slaves;

      • pays special attention to the matter of false teachers' greed;

      • examines the problems in the church and studies Paul's guidelines on the handling of specific cases.

    • Centuries ago, there was a struggle going on with different belief systems.  Christianity was new and still quite exciting but problems were cropping up in the churches.  Some taught one thing and others taught another thing. And in the wealthy, commercial city of Ephesus, they were having their issues too. What people of Ephesus chose to believe had an effect on everything they did.This week Bruce Dick:

      • explains  that what we believe has an effect on our relationships and our finances;

      • talks about  following Jesus Christ actively, persistently,passionately and practically;

      • discusses four responsibilities of a "rich" person.

    • The Christian life on this earth is as much about a destination as it is a journey. This journey is full of opportunities to grow, to learn, to practice what we believe in so many ways.  Living the Christ-centered life today requires wisdom, tact, resourcefulness and careful navigation. This week Bruce Dick:

      • shares the situation when he thought that he was going to die on the day of his surgery;

    • There is a cancer affecting the church of Jesus Christ today. It has all the characteristics of physical cancer – it attacks in a variety of places; it starts small and multiplies rapidly; it chokes and destroys quietly; and it’s so hard to detect and fight because the church cancer looks and sounds like what we have always believed.  If you know what to expect, then you need to know how to prepare. You will not find integrity, soundness, wholeness, and completeness apart from getting the Bible in you. This week Bruce Dick:

      talks about  navigating  away from self-centeredness and navigate toward truth and integrity;

      teaches  how to prepare for the battle with false teaching and find the cure for spiritual cancer;

    • False teaching is infiltrating the city of Ephesus and churches through these itinerant preachers whose gospel message is either partially or completely warped. And he wants these last instructions to be short, focused and memorable.This week Bruce Dick:
