    Dear Students! Welcome to the Course "Genesis".  We hope and pray you will have a wonderful experience studying with us and complete this course successfully!

    The very first thing we expect you to do is to follow our weekly schedule. We strongly encourage you to complete your lessons within the suggested time frame, which will require maintaining the pace outlined in your course materials. It is recommended that you take a genuine effort in regular forum participation. This allows an opportunity to learn from other students and enrich their learning experience by your views, ideas and discoveries, as you navigate through the course together.

      Before you get to the lessons, it is paramount that you review the course description and the timetable. They provide important information about the topics and readings, the required assignments and their purpose, etc.

    • The Eternal Existence of God

      It is impossible for us to conceptualize anyone who has no beginning. God is a noun that cannot be modified by the word "before". There was nothing and noone before God. Christians and atheists cross swords as they have problem explaining the eternal existence of God. But these problems are not equal, because the whole point of God is that He is not created and everything exists because of Him.

      This week Ronnie Stevens explores Genesis 1:1 and:

      • outlines the structure of the Book of Genesis;

      • talks about the idea of atheism;

      • focuses on the arguments of two Englishmen, who deny the existence of God;

      • talks about the being of God.
    • God’s Perfect Creation

      How often do you think about beginnings - the beginning of life, the beginning of the world, the beginning of civilizations? The Bible opens with a book of beginnings. Our lack of information leads to many controversies related to creation. Many Christians get caught up in debates about the “day-age theory”, the “gap theory,” or the question of evolution.  

      This week Ronnie Stevens explores Genesis 1:1-31 and:

      • talks about the deeds of God;

      • explains the first principle of theology;

      • looks at different points of views concerning the age of the universe;

      • shows how the book of Genesis can help us understand the spiritual reality we live in.

      The narrative of Genesis 3 makes no attempt to explain the origin of evil, but it illustrates the universal human problem of sin. This chapter is full of spiritual lessons about sin and temptation.

      This week Ronnie Stevens explores Genesis 3 and:

      • tries to answer difficult questions about God who created the world with the possibility of sin entering it;

      • talks about three important features of legalism;

      • compares popular creation accounts with biblical accounts;

      • argues that mind is more fallen than other aspects of human being.

    • Life in Exile

      What is life like when you have rejected God’s garden? Genesis 4-11 show the tragic path of Adam’s descendants and what God did when their degeneration reached a climax. One godly line, the family of Seth remained a spark of hope in the darkness.

      This week Ronnie Stevens explores several chapters from the Book of Genesis and:

      • explains the difference between the true and false way of worshipping God;

      • talks about the difficulty of accepting God’s judgment;

      • shares the principle that helps to respond to pain;

      • compares the supernatural judgment of confusion in the Old Testament to the supernatural blessing of understanding in the New Testament.

      Chapter 12 marks a turning point in Genesis. The story focuses on a single man, Abram, and a single line of his descendants.

      • expains how God leads only one step at a time;

      • talks about the reasons people should cry out to God;

    • Abraham: Special Relationship with God

      Christians have always had to face the problem of delays in the fulfillment of divine promises. All of us underatand what it is like to feel insecure. Abraham wrestled with this problem too. He abandoned everything in order to follow God to an unknown land, with only a set of intangible promises. Abram learns gradually to trust God more and more.

      This week Ronnie Stevens explores several chapters from the Book of Genesis and:

      • opens the book of Romans to demonstrate how righteous God can forgive us and how we can participate in His righteousness;

      Up to this point in his  life Abraham had followed a zigzag course of belief and unbelief. But now the old Patriarch was about to confront his supreme moment of testing. And we can learn a magnificent lesson from this wandering Patriarch - when put to the test, choose God!

      • talks about walking in flesh and how it can happen;

      • emphasizes that the love of the father is the key to everything;

      • explains how worship is defined in Genesis 22;

      • shows the difference between a testing and a temptation.

    • Jacob  Struggles with His Family (Part 1) 

      After the Mount Moriah, the Bible does not let Isaac to speak again until he is on his deathbed. Abraham entrusted the steward to choose a wife for Isaac, who later took drastic action to make sure that Jacob would receive the blessing. There could be no peace for Jacob or his family until he had finally confronted his past and achieved a reconciliation with Esau.

      This week Ronnie Stevens explores four chapters from the Book of Genesis and:

      • talks about Isaac’s marriage and the supernatural birth of Esau and Jacob;

      • illustrates how Isaac follows his father’s steps;

      • compares David who was ready to wait for the blessing of God and Jacob who took the advantage of Esau to get the blessing;

      • discusses the consequences of deceit.

    • Jacob Struggles with His Family (Part 2) 

      Jacob with his newfound faith couldn’t remove the necessity of facing up to the decisions he had made earlier in his life. There was no choice but to go to Mesopatamia. For twenty years, Jacob lived in the household of his uncle Laban. He proved to be a blessing to Laban, but it was impossible for Jacob to achieve a harmonious family life. There was strife between Rachel and Leah.

      This week Ronnie Stevens explores several chapters from the Book of Genesis and:

      • looks at what God is doing in history;

      • talks about the problem of polygamy;

      • explains two popular superstitions of those days;

      • dwells on the topic of God’s sovereignity;

      • shares the reason why Leah was more blessed than Rachel.

      God has done many things for Jacob. He has granted Jacob his family’s birthright and his father’s blessing. He has protected Jacob and blessed him with wealth. He has given him many children. But Jacob has been struggling with God all his life.

      This week Ronnie Stevens explores several chapters from the Book of Genesis that recount Jacob’s experiences during his return to the Promised Land and:

      In some ways the Joseph narrative is a continuation of the Jacob’s cycle. The leading figures are the sons, Judah and Joseph, who will eventually become the leading tribes of the future nation of Israel. The Joseph narrative is a masterfully told story of betrayal, sispense, and intrigue. But more than that, it illustrates how God is at work in the lives of those who trust Him.

      This week Ronnie Stevens explores several chapters from the Book of Genesis and:

      • talks about Joseph's dreams and the way his family responded;

      • explains why Joseph boasted about his dreams;

      • shows how Joseph is a picture of the Saviour and compares Joseph with Jesus.

      The Bible often uses history to illustrate a truth explained more abstractly elsewhere. This final section of Genesis illustrates the truth that God is always behind the scenes, working through and in the circumstances of life to accomplish His purposes for His people.
