It is not enough to have the aspiration to be an elder; leaders  have to have an unstainable character. In this section of the lecture "Oversight in the Church" Bruce Dick invites you to look at the list of qualities that would be observable character qualities, with the expectation that while perfection is not possible, a level of competency exists. You can’t escape the fact that being an elder in a church, as God expects, takes time.  But we need spiritual leaders who have a passion for the Lord and a healthy relationship with him.
