What you are about to see in 2 Timothy 1: 8-14 is Gospel-centered suffering on the part of the apostle Paul. He’s in the underground prison in Rome awaiting the day when they will hoist him out of that cistern and execute him. He’s suffered countless times on land and sea. But that suffering is not suffering for the cause of Paul; if it were, it would not be worth mentioning.
